COB - Chip on Board
A bare chip that is mounted directly onto the printed circuit board (PCB). After the wires are attached, a glob of epoxy or plastic is used to cover the chip and its connections.

PATENT
A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention. In other words, a patent is an exclusive right to a product or a process that generally provides a new way of doing something, or offers a new technical solution to a problem.

PCB - Printed Circuit Board
An electronic circuit in which certain components and the connections between them are formed by etching a metallic coating or by electrodeposition on one or both sides of a thin insulating board. Also called printed circuit, printed circuit card.

PWM - Pulse Width Modulation
Pulse Width Modulation refers to the concept of rapidly pulsing a digital signal on a wire. Along with many other uses, it can be used to simulate a varying static voltage. PWM is commonly used for driving motors, heaters, LEDs or lights in varying intensities or speeds.

SMD - Surface Mounted Device
A circuit board packaging technique in which the leads (pins) on the chips and components are soldered on top of the board. Boards can be made faster because surface mount technology (SMT) eliminates drilling holes for thru-hole devices, in which the pins go through the board and are soldered underneath.
